Weshiecia (weh-shi-eh-shi-uh) is a large coastal country formed around several of the worlds largest magical vents, constantly spewing the incredibly valuable energy that forms deep in the planets core.
It's ruled over by the Princeps royal family, and their army, sworn to protect the lands people, and it's magic from those who'd aim to harm it or use it for harm. It is a fairly secretive country, though very active in international trading. The countries main exports are magical items, mostly in the form of bottles of the countries magic infused waters for use in potions, and medicines. Its secretive nature, and valuable land have lead to conflict, though. Invasion attempts from surrounding countries are unfortunately common, and war is something never far from peoples minds. |
The CapitolThe Capitol is the crown jewel of the country, a massive city surrounding Cardia Castle, home of the royal family and base of most political function. It's a thriving area known for its decadence, beauty, and order. This is also the location of several of the more major schools of the land, including the College of Insight, the most powerful college of magic in the country.
The customs can be strange to those born outside of noble families or the cities walls, incredibly formal, and complex, but most are understanding of the inevitable faux-pas that come of visitors. It is also the home of the central force of Weshiecia's military, with knights, and soldiers being a common sight milling through the streets among students, nobles, and the various residents of the city. |
AmoraAmora is a province of Weshiecia. It is one of the most prosperous, with an incredibly high standard of living for a primarily farming community. It is the home of the country's main wine and flower producers, and is said to have a constant smell of roses in the air.
It's an incredibly popular vacation spot, known for its fine foods, fragrant wines, and beautiful sunshine. The locals are happy, friendly people, and the little town centers tend to be bustling places filled with fine craftsmanship, and smiling faces. This is a fairly recent, and hard-fought, turn-around from it's previous state as something of a forgotten patch of hills, stuck in a rut of struggle and poverty after a sizable chunk of its population was lost to war. It is widely believed to be the result of the current ruler of the province's dedication to the land and its people, and his tendency to live well below his means in favor of funneling taxes and property earnings back into the community. |
The Melting Woods"There were trees that sang in grating shrieks when you brushed against their bark, flowers that dripped blood that smelled as sweet as honey, and rocks that made you nauseous to look at. It was all so strange, so horrible, but they'd been wandering well over a week and found nothing good of it all. Llucid had begun to wonder if it was simply insanity that had helped people, or the sheer joy of finding a way out of here."
The Melting Woods are a place not often spoken of outside of hushed whispers. It's a strange, incomprehensible place made up of the madness that distorts reality when magic hemorrhages from the Earth in one spot. Though the witch of these woods will inform you it's a place of true neutrality, not caring for those who enter one way or another, oblivious to their presence, most consider it a cursed and evil location, and make a point of avoiding it. There are a great many rumors of both the horrors and rare miracles found within, and it's the source of many urban legends, and myths. It is also believed to be the origin of most truly magical artifacts found throughout the country, retrieved by the few brave enough to venture in, and lucky enough to escape alive. |
The Black IsleThe Black Isle is a heavily debated area. While it is often referred to as an island, recent attempts to map the location suggest that it is, in fact, a peninsula as some travelers have reported being able to walk to it on foot with no need for a boat, and more recent developments in long-distance sea-mapping show its body connected to the mainland.
The debate comes about due to its incredibly difficult to navigate nature. It is the home of most of the countries powerful witches, and as such has been intentionally surrounded by layer upon layer of obfuscating, and hallucinogenic magic, presumably to deter those that are not witches themselves, and thus not welcome. Some travelers report being met with a vast stretch of water, preventing them from reaching the isle, whilst others encounter maze-like towns with incomprehensible, dream-like configurations. Most attempts to circumvent this magic have proven fruitless, those that have succeeded were often met with retaliation. As the Black Isle's residents range from obtusely helpful, to overtly hostile, and the land is known for being unkind to outsiders, it is heavily recommended that people avoid the area. |
